About Us
Our Story
Katelyns Passion for animals started at birth with parents who supported the love of all animals no matter what size. This love grew with the introductions into dog shows as a child assisting handlers and breeders at dog shows and within their kennels. As a teenager Katelyn fell inlove and chose Alaskan Malamutes, which quickly embraced her heart. Soon Katelyn met Dorothy Hood of Earthwind Alaskan Malamutes. Dorothy embraced the passion, and mentored Katelyn then on. Through this came a belief of helping others, learning as much as possible and the strong appreciation of sound, healthy, well tempered dogs that meet their breed standard. Dorothy passed on " Earthwind" kennel to Katelyn sharing her 40+ years of dedicated breeding and passion. Earthwind will always embrace Dorothys love and dedication no matter which breed or interaction.
Our Mission
To produce exceptional purebred dogs that enhance the lives of families, showcasing our dedication to ethical breeding practices and the overall well-being of each pup. At Earthwind we breed for ourselves and our own program first, through this we often have puppys that come available to Pet and Show homes. We dont breed often or large quantity, but focus on quality first. At Earthwind we participate in many avenues suppoting our passion for dogs. Katelyn is a part time dog groomer, fosters and works with rescues in Saskatoon, handles clients and friends dogs in conformation, volunteering at shows through Western Canada, is working towards her CKC judging, as well as is a member of many Breed Clubs and holding executive positions in Dog Clubs. We believe in responsible pet ownership, no matter the dog or breed. Our own home is on 40 acres outside Saskatoon, where we have our two young boys, livestock, and gives us the room and options to let our dogs have fun and learn. Everyone lives inside our home, with the option of a 1 acre fenced in designated dog yard for them to stretch their legs and enjoy outside safely. Our back property offers the opportunity for supervised dog walks and letting dogs just be dogs. All dogs are OFA health tested, and have proven themselves worthy in their structure, temperment and health.
